Pre-Prosthetic Surgery

If you will receive dentures in the future, pre-prosthetic surgery can be performed to ensure your dentures won’t slide around or sit uncomfortably in your mouth.

Pre-Prosthetic Surgery Makes Dentures Comfortable

Dentures sit on the bone ridge, so it is important that the bone is the proper shape and size. A denture could easily feel uncomfortable if a tooth needs to be extracted because the underlying bone might be sharp and uneven. For the right denture fit, the bone may need to be smoothed out or reshaped. Sometimes, Dr. Curtis will remove excess bone prior to inserting the denture.

Our oral surgeon at Upstate Oral Surgery & Dental Implants is highly trained in ensuring our patients’ mouths are ready and healthy for the insertion of dentures. If you have been referred to our office for pre-prosthetic surgery, please call us and request a consultation so that our knowledgeable staff can help determine a time that works for you.
